Bruce Flood’s Coventry wins the Champion Hack

The final day of Adelaide Royal Show 2013 and what a line up of horses competing for the championships. The Galloway champion was Royalwood Concerto arguably one of the top galloways on the show scene. Owned by Jane Shaw, the impressive powerful moving gelding is by Royalwood Boy Soprano out of the TB mare Knowing.  Reserve was Graham Elliott’s bright and beautiful Holly’s Galaxy. In 2009 Graham purchased this lovely gelding from the Kolbeach Stud in SA, sired by Fernleigh Fine Print out of Kolbeach Holly’s Star Imp. Interesting that both winners are by leading Riding Pony sires that have had much influence in breeding quality pony and galloways.

The Champion Show Hunter Hack was the chestnut gelding On Fire owned by Laura Thomas, reserve was Sadie Michell’s grey gelding History. The showhunters have become so strong these days, the quality of type and increase in exhibit numbers show just how well they have been embraced into Australian showing.

The champion hack was to be a tough one, the line up was impressive with class horses coming onto the arena for the ride off. Bruce Flood’s  Coventry took the honor of been this years champion and reserve was Dale Plumb’s  DP Amazing. The Most Successful Hack of the show went to the stunning Montilla owned by Jessica Dunn.

Victorian riders take the placings in the Champion Lady Rider, Alex Berwick was champion and reserve was Briony Payne.
