Today started with some fairly substantial smoke coverage that had finally made its way to us overnight, by mid morning the smoke had lifted and we were left with a glorious day, we also had some beautiful ponies but still the thought of what those within the fires lines were going through was heavy on our minds.
The senior Welsh Mountain stallions were light in numbers but the eventual champion and reserve were both lovely Animals and put on a great show. Mark browns stallion Indi Royal Welsh has really grown into himself over winter and worked the house down to stamp his name on the championship, hot on his tail for reserve was another great mover Breemour Park Hot Gossip owned by C Hardie. The mare championship was awarded to Harry Cooper’s mare Osory Daylight. Armanii Park Robin Hood joined the seniors to battle for the Supreme Mountain Pony which went to Indi Royal.
The Welsh stallions were also very light in numbers, Bamborough Paramount was awarded the championship. The welsh mare classes had better numbers and here the beautiful Bamborough Cordilia stood out as she was awarded the champion mare sash. Fridays youngstock champion Karanga Rhapsody in Blue joined the two for the Supreme Welsh Pony, she took the judges fancy and the sash.
The welsh pony of cob types were not well supported with only three senior ponies showing on the day the senior champion was llangollen Gervase. The Best youngstock, Indi shes all That joined in for the supreme but llangollen Gervase took the sash home at this years show.
The cob stallion Indi Llewellyn tested Mark Browns athletic abilities, if this stallion was a car he would have lost an inch of rubber off the tyres, needless to say he took the Champion Cob Stallion and eventually the Supreme Cob. The champion mare was the very feminine Arawa Rhiannon. The supreme classes kicked off well with the committee putting on nibbles and wine for spectators, putting them in the mood to cheer on there favourite ponies and cobs.
The Supreme Part Welsh was the first off the blocks and yesterdays youngstock winner the very pretty Bamborough Betty boop was awarded the Supreme. The supreme Gelding was won by the Howe familys Nawarrah Park Great Britain making it the third state he has been awarded supreme gelding. The Supreme Foal of the show was Michael Gates chestnut welsh colt foal yet to be named .
The Supreme in Hand Exhibit was hotly contested and Bamborough Cordilia took the honours with Mark Browns Indi Royal Welsh as the runner up. Many interstate competitors packed up and left for home after the Supremes and we wish them a safe trip home! Tomorrow brings a whole new program packed with ridden classes. Bridey Lee
