Thoroughbreds will come to the fore on and Off the Track in Melbourne this spring and while Flemington will be the focal point on the first Tuesday in November, some former stars of the turf will strut their stuff in a new career when they contest the Off the Track National Show Horse Series Championship sponsored by Godolphin.
Racing Victoria (RV) and the Show Horse Council of Victoria (SHCV) are excited to announce that the unique event will be held on Saturday, 28 November, 2015 as part of the SHCV All States Showdown at Werribee Park Equestrian Centre.
The event is exclusive to retired thoroughbred racehorses that have competed in an official trial or started in a race, locally, nationally or internationally and invitations for the National Championship have been issued to the riders of horses that have competed successfully in their respective Off the Track state final.
Horse and rider combinations from Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland will contest the event, which will be co-judged by experts from both the show horse and racing industries.
Godolphin, the world’s largest and most global racing team, are the major sponsor of the Off the Track National Show Horse Series Championship which will offer a lucrative prize pool as an incentive for riders and horses from across the country, including $2500 cash to the winner of the class.
The event is an extension of the inaugural Off the Track Show Horse State of Origin Championship, held at Equitana in 2014, that saw the best thoroughbreds from Victoria and South Australia battle it out in the show ring.
