The show is split into two rings with one in the indoor and outdoor ring at the back of the property. The weather gods seemed to be a little confused this year and in true Victorian fashion we had all four seasons in one day. The inside classes kicked off with the large childs large show hunter pony here Nawarrah Park Cupid representing VIC worked beautifully as he always does to take the championship .
The large child’s showhunter galloway went to another well performed Victorian horse Salisbury My Guy ridden by Sally Shaw. The childs showhunter hack over 15hh went to another Victorian horse Daudreal Believer a lovely working grey horse beautifully piloted by Tahlia Wells.
The first of the Rider classes in the indoor was well represented with some fabulous little riders putting on a great show. The eventual winner of the rider 12 to 15 was from SA – Anannah Williams, a beautiful young rider with a super seat and soft hands Alannah rode riding DS Red Label, the rider 15 to 17 wasn’t as well filled as the previous class but the quality certainly wasn’t lacking. NSW competitor Tahlia Wells was given the win riding the lovely Daydream Believer , Tahlia rode this horse to perfection and is yet another young rider with a huge amount of talent. The last rider class inside was the under 12 year old class another small class but with some lovely young little riders the win went to Daizi Plumb.
The first of the big classes kicked off late morning with the small Galloway, three states were represented in this class with a total of four exhibits. The class number may have been small but the quality was good with the NSW Galloway Sonos Park Skyes the Limit awarded the championship, this very pretty lovely moving galloway worked well to take the win. The large galloways weren’t so lucky, with only one competing. However Chippenham Zulu still had to work to prove they were worthy of the large galloway title, so work they did and win they did ! even with competition I’m sure this galloway would have still taken the bow.
The small pony championship had five representatives, one from NSW and four from Vic the winner in this class was TJ Royal Secret from Victoria, the sweetest little chestnut pony well ridden by Daizi Plumb.
After a quick lunch break and harrowing of the amazing arena surface the judging resumed with the open large pony, this class had four representatives and two from South Australia. Four quality ponies all working well the winner making it well and truly a Plumb day was Calvin Park Tiny Dancer was awarded the sash.
When the competitors came in for the small show hunter class it was like a whirlwind of little feet, the group of happy little hunters showed how it was done, with the winner no stranger to the winner’s circle it was Owendale MR Perkins. A true hunter type with plenty of substance and beautifully ridden by his little rider Kaitlin Labahn-Meyland.
The large hunter ponies were next and what a line up this was with seven top quality ponies all working beautifully for there riders making it a tough competition for all in the class, the winner however was a popular one with the SA pony Elmdale Park Oliver – who put in an absolute stellar workout.
First of the showhunter hack classes had fewer competitors than the ponies, such a shame as this is such a super event. The winner was Dymondz. The large show hunter hacks were a little bigger and the competition was hot with some lovely work and some extremely typey horses. The pretty Di Cavalli Don Sebastian was awarded the champion after a beautiful workout.
The small hack class was quite small with some nice work as well as horses. The winner was Kerry Mulgrews Nadal. The large hack class consisted of three horses, all of beautiful quality and DP Amazing was the winner.
At five o’clock the classes recommenced and were set to go well into the night complete with music and bubbles with more children’s and rider classes. The crowd was growing and all looked set to have a great time!
